What does Connections Counseling offer? We are a trauma-informed group practice, a hub for clinicians and clients to come together for healing. Our clinicians offer a wide range of modalities, from body-centered work to EMDR to play therapy to couples therapy and more. Clinical hypnosis is offered here, as well as massage therapy to integrate somatic wellness along with mental and emotional well-being. Yoga classes will be starting back up again here in the fall. When certified therapy dog Harley is here, he brings an indefinable warmth to the space. Our interns (supervised by two licensed therapists) can offer significantly reduced rates for clients.
Connections would like to introduce one of the current interns, Basil Ross. Basil is genderqueer/nonbinary and uses the pronouns they/them/theirs. They are finishing up their master's degree in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling at Naropa; this means that they can offer skills around staying in the present moment as well as an open-mindedness to how spiritual well-being can be an integral part of overall wellness. They are being trained in somatic psychotherapy and have some experience with Internal Family Systems and parts work. Other things that they are currently jazzed about include:
-Boundaries and codependency
-Procrastination and perfectionism
-The ways that culturally prescribed, gendered expectations (both masculine and feminine) can hurt and limit us as individuals at times
-The risks and payoffs of vulnerability (both with ourselves and in relationships)
Some of these will be expanded into blog topics in upcoming months, so stay tuned!
