Is it Spring? Is it Winter? Is it Summer?
Colorado weather just can't seem to make up it's mind this time of year. Our closets are confused about exactly what season should be up front, so it just becomes a jumble of multiple seasons. The snow boots competing with the cute flip flops and strappy sandals. Our flowers and lawns are wondering where the rain is or if the snow is coming back. We wonder if it's too early to get those vegetables and summer annuals in the ground. Will they freeze or will they be Ok? Schools are wrapping up for the term and there are a million activities and end-of-school parties to attend, the kids are just waiting to get out and enjoy their freedom.
This change can be stressful for our families and children. We leave the routine of the school year and launch in the unknown routine of lazy summer days. If your family struggles with mental illness, trauma or attachment issues, this break in routine can be a disaster.
Create a schedule and stick to it. Let your kids know what is coming so that they don't lose all the predictability and structure in their lives. Plan some fun activities and outings. But also schedule in some time to relax and enjoy the summer time. There is benefit to 'scheduling' some down time. We all need to relax and rejuvenate.
Summer is also a great time to heal and create health and well-being for you and your family. We believe in a holistic approach to health here at Connections Counseling and work to nurture all parts of you! What dreams do you have for your life and family? Let us connect you to the healing and well-being you desire.
I always wonder what the summer will hold for me. The summer goes by so fast, it never seems like there is enough time to do all the things I dream I will do at the beginning of the season. Don't let this summer pass you by without taking that action.
Clean the closet , plant the seeds, learn to connect to your TRUE self.
It's within your reach.
