This time of year always makes me want to create changes in all areas of my life. The brilliant colors of the changing leaves let us know that another year has passed and the holidays will soon be upon us. I want to get ready for those long and cold winter months by cleaning and reorganizing and nesting.
It is also a great time to take stock of your life. There is something beautiful about the light during the Fall months. The soft orange light, mixed with the crispness of cold weather illuminates the places in our lives that we may want to be different next year when the leaves fall. Of course, society encourages us to do this in January, but how often do we really stick with all those changes we 'resolve' to make every year? Fall is a season of change. What changes do you want to make in your life?
Here is a list of questions you may want to ask yourself as we move through this season of change.
Where do you want to be in your life?
What would you like to be different?
How would you describe the relationships in your life? Are they healthy and satisfying?
What is holding you back from doing the things you really want to do?
What keeps you from being the parent / spouse / co-worker you want to be?
In what ways would you like to manage your emotions more effectively?
What changes would you make in your life right now to increase your level of happiness?
What people or things in your life keep you from feeling peaceful most of the time?
What incidents in your past keep you from moving forward with your life?
Do you use alcohol, drugs, or food to avoid negative feelings?
How does your physical body feel on a day to day basis?
