Stacy and Jenn started Connections Counseling in 2011. Stacy specializes in unresolved trauma in adults and adolescents. She has over 14 years experience in the mental health field and uses unique modalities including art therapy and breath work to guide her clients through the healing process. She is trained in EMDR & Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and incorporates both into her practice to treat PTSD. As co-owner of Connections Counseling, Jenn is our relationship, attachment and neuroscience specialist. She has trained clinicians in the area of body-focused therapy and utilizes it effectively with a variety of issues, including PTSD, anxiety and attachment difficulties. She has studied with the top experts in the field of trauma, attachment and couples therapy. She also specializes in issues surrounding chronic illness. Basil recently joined Connections Counseling in 2018 and, as a Naropa University intern, they can offer sessions at significantly reduced rates. Basil is genderqueer (non-binary) and uses they/them/theirs pronouns. They have a direct therapeutic style and utilize parts work, Gestalt, and person-centered therapy. They enjoy working with individuals and couples, and areas of specialty include queer and trans issues, alternative relationship styles, communication issues, polyamory, and BDSM. Lisa joined Connections Counseling in 2015 and has been providing counseling to children, teens and adults for over ten years and graduated from Loyola University Chicago's clinical social work program in 2006. She is passionate in helping individuals recover from, and process trauma. She is trained in EMDR, play therapy, CBT and DBT, and utilizes many interventions to help integrate mind and body, such as relaxation exercises and yoga. Additionally, she provides animal assisted therapy with the help of her therapy dog, Harley, who has been accompanying her to work for the past five years. Susan has been with Connections Counseling since 2016 and specializes in grief, loss, and trauma in adolescents and adults. She has 8 years experience in mental health and has been trained in Gestalt, DBT and Mindfulness. She uses creative and experiential techniques to help clients increase self awareness and balance. This includes use of mindfulness, art therapy and dream work. Susan also specializes in individuals with issues around chronic mental health diagnoses. Rena has been in practice for 11 years and became a part of Connections Counseling team in 2017. Her passion is clinical healing through the unconscious and the unspoken. She uses clinical hypnosis as a safe, natural and deeply relaxing way to change habitual behaviors, thoughts and feelings. Rena works with clients ages 11+ up. Rena finds it deeply rewarding to witness profound and rapid changes on a daily basis. Sarah is a registered psychotherapist, school psychologist, and certified kids yoga teacher. She teamed up with Connections Counseling in 2017 and specializes in working with children and adolescents with anxiety, stress, ADHD and academic and social difficulties. Sarah takes a collaborative approach by working with families and educators to ensure young people are supported across environments as new skills are learned. Connections Counseling brought Ann on in 2017 as well and she works with individuals, families, couples, children and adolescents specializing in family dynamics, couples issues, military families, PTSD, and loss. In Spring 2018 Bronwyn allied with Connections to bring you Boost Counseling and Consulting. Bronwyn offers one-on-one therapy, life-coaching, and company consultations. She pulls from Hakomi, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care principles to support an individual's - or an organization's - innate ability to heal and thrive. Neil joined Connections in 2017 and has been providing counseling and mental health education for over 5 years. He has worked in a wide variety of settings where he has developed a reliable, collaborative, and creative approach. Harley, Certified Therapy Dog
Harley came to Connections Counseling with Lisa in 2015 and has been a registered therapy dog since 2010 and is certified through Therapy Dogs International (www.tdi-dog.org). Research has shown that the presence of animals can help increase relaxation for people, lower blood pressure and can help with grounding and self soothing. This is especially helpful when clients are pursuing trauma work. Harley was rescued at age 4 and enjoys hiking, swimming and fishing.
